5 things you can do to take good care of your pets this 2022

Updated: Jan 18, 2022

New year, new goals and new ways to be a better person and tutor or pet owner.

Hi, this is Dacia, I’m the veterinarian that’s gonna be answering all of your questions this 2022.

I feel very excited to start this journey with you, and today I want to show you 5 things you can do to take good care of your pets in this 2022.

So let's start!

1.- Take your pets to an annual medical check-up. Yes, your pets should be visiting the veterinarian at least once a year for a general check-up.They should be doing blood tests, general physical exams and that kind of things vets know how to do.

2.- Preventive medicine. Remember to take your pets to the vet to get their vaccines and deworm her/him. Some veterinarians recommend deworming your pet every 6 or every 4 months, it's up to their lifestyle and veterinarian recommendation.

3.- Check their nutrition. 2022 might be the year when your pet grows old enough that he or she may need a change in their nutrition, as you may know puppies, adults and senior dogs/cats need the same nutrients but in a different proportion, so maybe this year you should ask your vet about it.

4.- Bathe your pet at the proper time. Do you know how many times a month is recommended to bathe your pets? It always depends on the condition of the animal and of course on the species. For example, a normal adult healthy dog should be bathed only once a month, every 3 or 4 weeks, not less. And always dry them at the end of the bath to prevent dermal infections.

5.- Play and exercise them. A lot of people think that as their pets have a bir place where they can run and take some air they don’t need to play or give them attention, and that’s why some animals may play with the trash, or the beautiful flowers we just bring home. It depends on your pets energy but you should be playing or walking them at least once a day, and at the same time you will be creating a strong bond for a lifetime.

*Remember, every animal is different, so always ask your veterinarian about your pet and follow the instructions.
